Dreams have taken flight on swings and starry nights, and the crying of babies wondrously silenced in a swing’s rhythmic rocking.

Front porches first appeared in America in the early 18th century, but it wasn’t until the 1900s that they became popular. Not only were they a social gathering place, but they fostered community, encouraging interaction among neighbors in their semi-public space.
