The Front Porch Swing

There was a time when front porches and swings welcomed neighbors and company alike, a time when lazy summer days and cool, crisp fall nights were spent on the comfort of a swing. Many a love has been discovered, and as many problems resolved in the heart to heart talks that seem to come naturally in the peaceful rocking of a front porch swing. Dreams have taken flight on swings and starry nights, and the crying of babies wondrously silenced in a swing’s rhythmic rocking.

Front porches first appeared in America in the early 18th century, but it wasn’t until the 1900s that they became popular. Not only were they a social gathering place, but they fostered community, encouraging interaction among neighbors in their semi-public space.

The innocence and welcoming environment of a front porch and swing are a tradition that so many of our clients love about their Jordan Traditions homes. In fact, you can drop by the Jordan Traditions office and swing a while. We’ll talk and dream with you, and remember that some traditions are worth keeping.
